Wat Jaeng was located off the city island in the eastern area of Ayutthaya in Hua Ro sub-district. The monastery was situated on the east bank of the Front City Canal (Khlong Khue Na), at present the Pa Sak River. Wat Jaeng stood in between Wat Yom Mon and Wat Yom Thai. There are no traces anymore visible of the monastery above ground level. Historical data about the monastery and its construction are unknown. The site is only indicated on a 2007 Fine Arts Department map. Some remains of the temple were excavated by the Fine Arts Department (FAD) in geographical coordinates: 14° 21' 37.03" N, 100° 34' 53.40" E. |
