| Wat Kamphaeng or the Monastery of the Wall was located off the city island in the southeastern area of Ayutthaya in Khlong Suan Phlu sub-district; east of the railway from Bangkok to the North. It is part of a cluster of three monasteries the other two being Wat Ko Noi and Wat Sangkhawat situated on the west bank of Khlong Ban Krot running parallel with the present Chao Phraya River. In situ remains only a brick mound. A Bodhi tree or "Ficus Reliogiosa" stands on the site. Wat Kamphaeng is found on a Fine Arts Department map drafted in 1993. Its historical background and period of construction are unknown. The site is located in Geo Coord: 14° 19' 47.33" N, 100° 35' 9.26" E. |
