| WAT PHLAI CHUMPHON (วัดพลายชุมพล) |
| Wat Phlai Chumphon or the Monastery of the Concentration of Elephants was located off the city island in the eastern area of Ayutthaya in Phai Ling Sub-district on the east bank of Khlong Ayodhya. There are no visible traces remaining of this monastery at ground level. (1) The site was located adjacent to Wat Sing Narai and more or less opposite Wat Ayodhya. The monastery was separated from Wat Sing Narai by a small canal splitting off from Khlong Ayodhya and linking with Khlong Maheyong. At present there is the Ayutthaya Provincial Juvenile Center in situ. Its historical background and period of construction are unknown. The temple is only mentioned on a 1993 Fine Arts Department map. Wat Phlai Chumphon must have been located in approximate geographical coordinates: 14° 22' 4.71" N, 100° 35' 28.10" E. |
