| WAT YAI CHAI MONGKHON - SITE 2 |
| Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon or the Great Monastery of Auspicious Victory is located off the City Island in the southeastern area at present Phai Ling Sub-district. To its east side, just over the moat, there were two small temples situated. They are called Ancient Temple No 1 and 2. Thai chedi from the Middle Ayutthaya period and the foundations of a vihara. The chedi stands at the west side and in line with the vihara, which had its entry to the east, a classical monastic construction as thus. The chedi has a square platform and a round Temple No 2 was located north of Temple No 1. In situ is a badly damaged classical Thai chedi from the Middle Ayutthaya period and the foundations of a vihara. The chedi stands at the west side and in line with the vihara, which had its entry to the east, a classical monastic construction as thus. The chedi has a square platform and a round base. The bell-shaped dome and harmika disappeared, while the spire lie damaged next to the platform. The historical data about the monastery and its construction are unknown. The site is located in geographical coordinates: 14° 20' 46.75" N, 100° 35' 39.44" E. |
