Wat Khut Din (1) was located off the city island in the eastern area of Ayutthaya in Phai Ling Sub-district. The monastery stood on the east bank of Khlong Kudi Dao (2), just opposite Wat Kuti Dao.
An unidentified monastery, shown on the 1993 CE FAD map, stood north, Wat Maheyong (restored ruin) east and Wat Tuek (defunct) south.
A 1974 CE Fine Arts Department map indicates a temple ruin in this location, naming it Wat Khun Din, while a 1993 CE Fine Arts Department map gives no denomination for the location.
No visible traces are remaining of this monastery at ground level.
Its historical background and period of construction are unknown.
Wat Khut Din was in geographical coordinates: 14° 21' 47.74" N, 100° 35' 29.55" E.
Footnotes:
(1) Khut Din (ขุดดิน) means to excavate, a bit unusual denomination for a monastery.
(2) Khlong Kudi Dao was an artificial short-cut canal running north-south and dug in a loop of the Pa Sak River, which riverbed later became Khlong Hantra. The canal is defunct today, but some small stretches can still be seen parallel with Road No 3058. The canal was an extension of Khlong Ayothya.
