Wat Luang Pho Khao, or the Monastery of the White Buddha, is located off the city island in the eastern area of Ayutthaya in the Khlong Suan Phlu Sub-district. The monastery is sometimes called Wat Klang Thung, or the Monastery in the Middle of the Fields.
It is not a registered monastery but a House of Priests (สำนักสงฆ์). The sanctuary has no ordination hall, but a vihara is in construction.
At present, the site is an active monastery. Urbanisation took its toll, and the monastery is now enclosed by modern habitation.
The monastery is north of Road No 2053 and can be accessed by a single road.
In its immediate vicinity are no other temples or ruins which could be used as a reference point.
The monastic site is known for the sandstone Buddha image called Luang Pho Khao. It has a lap of four cubits and is assumed to be of the Ayutthaya period.
Historical data about the monastery and its construction are unknown, and it is likely not an old site dating to the Ayutthaya era.
The site is only indicated on a 2007 CE Fine Arts Department map.
Wat Luang Pho Khao is in geographical coordinates: 14° 20' 9.69" N, 100° 36' 7.08" E.
