The story behind
Historian Chris Baker, co-author or author of different works such as "Thailand: Economy and Politics", "A History of Thailand", "Van Vliet's Siam" and "The Tale of Khun Chang Khun Phaen" was searching for the location of Khlong Nam Ya as mentioned in the "Testimony of the King at Wat Pradu Songtham". This Khlong Nam Ya was not the Takhian canal in the south, but should have been situated following the old texts in the north of Ayutthaya.
I had to say I never heard of a Khlong Nam Ya in the north, but knew about an area called "Thamle Ya" (grass locality) derived by the local population as "Thale Ya" or the "Sea of grass". A link was quickly made between Thamle Ya and Nam Ya. After a few local interviews in the area of Wat Borommawong, it was conclude that Khlong Borommawong was in fact the old Khlong Nam Ya.
As always "Two heads are better than one"; thanks Chris for the hint.
